June 18, 10:30pm. I was already at work. Pale, tired, and sleepy. I only got 3 hours of sleep during the day. 3 hours of interrupted sleep. I was already swearing and cursing because of the heat but duty calls, I must go to work and set aside my issues.
10:45pm. Endorsement already started. I was already having wheezes but I just did purse-lip breathing cause I do not want to be absent, especially when we are about to go to the beach. I had 11 patients, mostly Cardio cases, every hour monitoring plus 1 big and heavy patient for sponge bath. I new I was in trouble.
June 19, 12:00am. Rounds. My wheezes just became louder and louder. I was cold and clammy, dizzy but I still tried to get through but after 5 rooms, I had to give in. Our charge nurse sent me to the ER.
At the ER, I was immediately hooked to oxygen via nasal cannula @ 2-3liters/minute. It wasn't enough so I increased it myself up top 6. Wow. And then Dr. Duruin, ER-ROD on duty examined me so she just ordered nebulization. After a few minutes, my breathing slowly became slower, but still it was labored.
Zaysa, ER Nurse on duty asked me to call my Mom so they could fetch me and I could go home and rest but I was hesitant cause I was worried that if she heard the news that I was at the ER, her BP might shoot up so I called my cousin BA instead to pick me up. While waiting, outgoing staff came to visit me. Awww, I was touched naman. They stayed with me for a few minutes then went home. The orderly also stayed with me and entertained me with his stories while waiting for my sundo.
After a few hours, I finally went home and rest. I was instructed to nebulize every 8 hours but I was on pasaway mode so I did not do it. I just slept the whole day and got energized for the outing.
